NetID+ Cost (Duo Mobile)
As a result of the universal adoption of NetID+, the number of compromised NetIDs is down over 90% since last year at this time. This is an amazing achievement in improving the security posture of not only the UA at large, but also our end users.
Now that NetID+ has been in use, we are learning additional lessons, as was presented at the January Net Managers meeting regarding the cost of Duo associated with NetID+ 2FA service.
Duo charges the UA $.01 for each text (10 authentication codes) and $.02 for each US phone call (1 authentication). The service is free for authentications using the Duo app (either the push option of app-generated codes), bypass codes, and Yubikeys. UITS is covering the costs of texts and calls at a rate of approximately $5,000/month.
Duo App FAST LOGINS
Having a portable way to log in when you need it will save time, resources, and potential frustration.
Duo app: Adding the Duo app to your smartphone or tablet makes completing logins easy! Just tap the green checkmark to get in.
YubiKey: Keep a small YubiKey token on your keychain. Insert it into your computer’s USB port and press the YubiKey button to authenticate it. Get a YubiKey in the UA BookStore, or from Amazon or other retailers.

The fastest logins are when you don’t need to take the second step at all. Whenever you are on a computer or device that only you use (your laptop, versus the classroom computer), click Remember me for 30 days before going ahead with your authentication to save time later.

Text: One text gives you ten codes to use for logins.
Bypass Codes: Log into netid-plus.arizona.edu and go to Manage Your Account. Click the Print Bypass Codes button for ten codes that you can either print or write down and keep in your wallet for those times you’re stuck without your other login methods.
